T-Mobile creates call centre jobs

Mobile phone company T-Mobile is creating up to 60 new jobs at its call centre in Sunderland.

The firm said the jobs were the result of a major restructuring of its UK contact centre operations.

The company's Doxford International Business Park site in the city already employs about 200 people.

Some new jobs will also be created at the company's offices at Greenock in Scotland and Methyr Tydfil in Wales as part of the shake-up.

A spokesman said: "T-Mobile has embarked on a restructuring of its customer services organisation that will create more than 200 new jobs, mainly in contact centre operations based in Doxford in Sunderland, Greenock and Methyr Tydfil.

"The objective of the reorganisation is to divert more people to frontline activities to improve the level of service we provide to customers.

"The management structure in contact centres has been expanded to ensure people are more effectively managed."
