The Red Arrows display was the first to be called off

Rain on Saturday meant air displays at the Sunderland International Airshow were cancelled.

But on Sunday morning, the weather had brightened up and organisers said the full flying programme would go ahead.

Attractions included the Red Arrows, the RAF's most advanced fighter aircraft, the Eurofighter, and The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The two-day airshow is billed as the biggest such free event in Europe and attracts thousands of visitors.

Research suggests the event generates up to �12m for the city.

A wristband scheme is being used at the show for the third year.

The bands contain details meaning lost children can be quickly reunited with their parents.
