Woman target of 'rogue traders'
Two men have been arrested on Wearside by police investigating a case in which an elderly woman was pressured into paying cash for poor-quality repairs.

Two men, who claimed to be roofers, called at the house in Lonsdale Avenue, Sunderland, saying the roof needed repairing, which they then carried out.

The woman was then driven to a cash point to withdraw the 500 payment.

Police said minimal work had been carried out, which was substantially worth less than the amount charged.

They believe other people may have had a similar experience and have urged them to come forward.
