The four millionth car was donated to charity |
Car makers on Wearside marked a milestone as the four millionth vehicle rolled off the production line. The landmark Micra car, made at the Nissan plant in Sunderland, is being donated to the NSPCC.
The roll out came as the company unveiled three new Micra models, which the company said showed its ongoing commitment to the North East plant.
In February, Nissan announced it was building a new family car at Sunderland, safeguarding 1,000 jobs.
The three new models announced were the new Micra, sporty Micra 160SR and the production version of the coupe cabriolet Micra C+C.
February's announcement was that a new model, called the P32L or Qashqai, would be built in Sunderland.
The project received a 5m grant from the Department of Trade and Industry.
