Domestic violence experts from around Britain are travelling to Wearside to discuss the effects on children and what can be done to protect families. Wearside Domestic Forum is hosting the national conference on Tuesday at the Leechmere Training Centre, Sunderland.
Organisers say the event has attracted a lot of interest with all the places being taken.
There will be seven workshops looking at different aspects of domestic violence and children.
There will be three key speakers - Joe Farrell, from the Department for Education and Skills, Dr Helen Baker, from Liverpool University Law School, and Pauline Fogg, from Safer Families Project in Gateshead.
The conference has been backed by Sunderland's Safer Sunderland Partnership which helped a bid for funding so it could be held.
