Village receives a major facelift
Work is starting on the next phase of a project to breathe new life into a County Durham village.

The 125,000 project in Ushaw Moor starts on 23 August and is the latest in a series of improvements to revive its centre.

The work is all part of a scheme to restore confidence in the village and includes replacing worn-out pavements and new street furniture.

Durham County Council says it expects the work to take around eight weeks.

Council deputy chief executive, environment, Chris Tunstall said: "We have planned the work to take place over part of the school holidays to try to keep disruption to a minimum."

The project has been funded by a partnership of the County Council, City of Durham Council, Durham Villages Regeneration and Brandon and Byshottles Parish Council.
