Comic Ross Noble receives the honour at Cramlington Library |
One of the country's hottest new comics has been made a lifelong member of his local library after revealing how it helped him on the road to success. Ross Noble, 27, received the honour from Cramlington Library in Northumberland.
He said recently that he could have ended up joining the circus had it not been for the well-stocked comedy section at Cramlington Library.
In return, Mr Noble has donated copies of his CDs to the library.
'Terrific talent'
Mr Noble, who now lives in Australia, said: "I was a big comedy fan and Cramlington library used to have a really good cassette library.
"I got bored of fairy tales and Beatrix Potter albums and would listen to Max Boyce and Billy Connolly instead.
"This is some award and I'm making sure it goes on my website within days, so the whole world can see.''
Ross said that he was further convinced comedy was the career for him when he won tickets on local radio to see Jack Dee, Frank Sidebottom and Jo Brand at Newcastle Opera House, formerly the Tyne Theatre.
Northumberland County Councillor Peter Hillman said: "Ross Noble is a terrific talent. I'm delighted that Cramlington Library helped inspire him. We couldn't think of a more fitting tribute than a lifelong membership.
"Ross is proof that libraries are places people can discover new interests, broaden their horizons and help fulfil their ambitions."
