Boy shot in chest with air weapon
A nine-year-old has been shot in the chest with an air weapon, according to Northumbria Police.

The boy was hit by a pellet as he walked along Welbeck Road in Walker, Newcastle, on Monday.

The incident happened outside the Planet Pizza takeaway shop at approximately 1750 BST.

He suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
