Prince William has given the royal seal of approval to a sport development project on Tyneside. The second in line to the throne took showed off his football skills alongside youngsters at West Gate Community College in Newcastle.
He was visiting the Hat-Trick scheme, which provides a range of football opportunities for seven to 16-year-olds in disadvantaged communities.
The prince is a president of the FA, which part-funds the project.
He took part in a warm-up session with 16 to 18-year-olds from the college's football academy, and then in a five-a-side tournament with primary school pupils.
Really fun
Earlier, he was involved in a classroom discussion on fair play involving local children and youngsters from the Centrepoint charity.
Steven Taylor, the Newcastle United defender and captain of England's Under 21s football team, joined William in the classroom.
He said: "It's amazing. It's an honour to be here. The kids' faces lit up when he walked through the door."
Nine-year-old Naseem Haque, described the prince as really nice, and not as formal as he expected.
He said: "He's really fun when he's talking to you but I don't know why he supports Aston Villa.
"I wanted to persuade him to support Newcastle United."
