 Writer Ian La Frenais gets an OBE in the Queen's birthday honours |
The Tyneside-born creator of TV's The Likely Lads and Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Ian La Frenais, has been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. He and partner Dick Clement, who also created the show Porridge, were made OBEs for services to entertainment.
Chair of the North East Strategic Health Authority, Peter Carr, from Corbridge, was knighted in the honours.
Gillian Irvine, from Morpeth, was made an MBE for her work with the Wansbeck Music Festival.
Others recognised include George Loble, who was appointed an MBE for services to the Women's Cancer Detection Society in Gateshead and to the community in Newcastle.
Catering manager Agnes Thompson, who works at Thomas Hepburn Community School in Gateshead, was made an MBE for services to education.

Alnmouth Railway Station supervisor Atholl James Swanston, from Amble, was appointed an MBE for services to transport.
After hearing news of his knighthood, Sir Peter Carr, said: "Though this is a personal award, it is also recognition that the North East has some of the best performing NHS services in the country.
"I therefore owe a debt of gratitude to all my colleagues for their dedication to the health service and its objectives.
"NHS North East has seen year on year improvements to waiting times.
"People living in the region have access to some of the best healthcare in the country - something which we will continue to progress and improve even further."
