A flagship Tyneside university campus is set to open on time after developers battled to recover from the effects of an arson attack. Northumbria University's new 100m campus in Newcastle, was hit by flames from a nearby block of flats targeted by arsonists in April.
The fire caused 1.5m of damage to the university's development.
But the builders have worked to ensure the campus will be open for its September start date.
Northumbria University director of estates Trevor Thurlow said: "In terms of construction, every project faces problems, but with the fire and a gas leak a few days later it really wasn't a very good week."
