Metro stretch closed for repairs
Trains on a stretch of the Tyne and Wear Metro have been suspended for essential engineering work.

Services between Pelaw in Gateshead and South Shields, South Tyneside, will not be running on Sunday morning, but will resume again at noon.

A replacement bus service will be running. The work is to renew junction points in Bill Quay in Gateshead.

Metro operator Nexus is urging passengers to allow extra time for their journeys.

Services through Pelaw to and from Sunderland and South Hylton will run as normal.
