'Scotswood hoodies' given Asbos
A Tyneside gang known locally as the Scotswood Hoodies has been issued with anti-social behaviour orders.

The five youths aged 13 to 18 were alleged to have been causing trouble over a number of months in the area.

At a hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court they agreed to interim Asbos which ban them from entering a triangle of streets in the suburb of Scotswood.

The temporary orders were imposed until next month, when details of their alleged trouble-making will be heard.

Stuart Spence, 18, of Dilston Road, Fenham; Alan Dodd, a 16-year-old garage worker of Aldwick Road, Newcastle; Ricky Weatherson, 13, of Bishop's Road, Benwell, and Sean Lawson, 16, of Broadmead Way, Newcastle, were banned from entering Scotswood and from causing harassment.

Kieron Hardy, 13, of Gowland Avenue, Fenham, was banned from entering Scotswood.

The case against another 13-year-old was adjourned because he is in custody.

Detective Constable Paula Metcalfe, of Newcastle's Asbo unit, said: "There has been months of complaints in the area. This result will give members of the public some respite."
