Snatched girl, 6, reveals route
Alley where the girl was found
The girl was found naked and screaming in an alleyway
A six-year-old girl snatched from a bath and sexually assaulted has given police more details of where her attacker took her in his car.

The youngster was found naked and screaming in an alley in Willington Quay, North Tyneside, a week ago.

She said the man was white, between 5ft 4in and 5ft 8in tall, may have had sideburns and was "not skinny".

He was wearing a black hat, coat and gloves and it is believed he drove her up the High Street and Tynemouth Road.

A force spokeswoman said they are "keeping an open mind" about the suspect's age because the girl has based her assessment on his height.

Detectives said they had managed to piece together part of the route on which the abductor may have taken the girl after she pointed out landmarks in the Wallsend area to them.

Acting suspiciously

The spokeswoman said these include the Kwik Save supermarket in Hadrian Road and the Rose Inn in Church Bank.

She said they believed the route also included Park Road, Laurel Street, High Street, High Street East and Tynemouth Road. The youngster was abandoned in Armstrong Road.

Det Ch Insp Jim Napier asked the abductor to search his "conscience" and give himself up.

But no-one has yet come forward to say they saw a man acting suspiciously in the area on Tuesday night.

Officers have been speaking to known sex offenders in the North East.
