Almost 300 homes in parts of Northumberland are still without electricity after a power cut on Tuesday morning. Supplies were cut to 1,200 houses in the Wylam and Ovingham areas of the Tyne Valley because of overhead cable failure, electricity firm NEDL said.
Generators have been brought in as a temporary measure and most supplies have been reconnected.
Engineers are hoping to restore power to the rest by 1600 BST on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman said: "Engineers are currently repairing the damaged cable. Householders still affected are mainly in Wylam, but engineers are hoping all power will be back on by this afternoon."
