Environment Agency officers will be available on Friday at Corbridge Parish Hall to listen to people's views and answer questions about the floods.

Homes in Corbridge and Haydon Bridge were flooded in heavy rain this month.

A drop-in session at Ratcliff Road community centre, in Haydon Bridge, will take place on 24 January.

'Fatal consequences'

People can turn up at the session between 1000 GMT and 1630 GMT on Friday and from 1400 GMT until 1600 GMT on Monday.

The Agency's area flood defence manager Ian Hodge said: "The flood had a devastating impact on dozens of residents in Corbridge and Haydon Bridge.

"These drop-in sessions will be an opportunity for people to find out more about why their homes were flooded and to hear the latest news on the proposed defence work for their areas.

"It is also vital that residents visit us so we can update their contact details for our voice messaging service which sends out warnings to people living in a flood-risk area.

"The wrong phone number for a property at risk of flooding could have potentially fatal consequences."
