Stone curlew eggs were recovered in the raids |
A large collection of rare bird eggs have been seized after a raid on two houses in Northumberland. Among the haul, recovered in Widdrington on Monday, were the protected eggs of stone curlews and little terns, Northumbria Police said.
A 27-year-old man and 20-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possessing wild bird eggs under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) helped in the operation.
