Bogus charity collection warning

Residents on Teesside are being warned to be on their guard against bogus charity collectors.

Police said fake collection bags and leaflets, bearing the logo of children's autism charity Daisy Chain, were being left at homes in Stockton.

Nathan Money, a spokesman for the local charity, said it was not carrying out door to door appeals at the moment.

Anyone who receives a bag or has any further information is asked to contact Cleveland Police.

Pc Eddie Lincoln said: "The people conducting these collections are doing so illegally and profiting at the expense of the charity."
