Safety checks for Halloween shops
Halloween costumes are being checked by Trading Standards officers in Teesside to make sure they are safe.

Officers are visiting shops in Hartlepool to check if the clothing meets fire safety standards.

The council team is also warning parents to check materials when making homemade disguises for children.

Trading standards officer Michael Welsh said: "Homemade clothing may not be as safe as it may not have been treated with a flame retardant chemical."
