Bus shelters are regular targets of vandals |
CCTV cameras and improved lighting are to be fitted at some bus stops in Middlesbrough to boost security. The 17 shelters are in areas where there have been problems with crime and vandalism and there are hopes to extend the scheme in the future.
Cameras will be monitored round the clock in a control room.
Ron Lowes, executive member for transport, said: "This complements other projects designed to make public transport safer."
