Archaeologists check Falmer site

The new design for the stadium has more room for seating

Archaeological diggers have moved onto the site of Brighton and Hove Albion's new football stadium at Falmer.

A survey team is checking there is nothing of historical importance on the farmland, before construction work gets under way next month.

The club said initial work would involve creating access roads.

The 22,500-seater stadium, being built by contractor the Buckingham Group, is due to open in August 2011, a year later than originally planned.
