PCSO Martin Hylands had lunch with pupils at The Haven Primary |
Pupils at junior schools in an East Sussex town will be having regular lunches with their local police community support officers (PCSO). The officers in Eastbourne will be spending lunchtimes at their local schools to get to know pupils. "It is an ideal time for the young people to feel relaxed and comfortable in an environment known to them," said a Sussex Police spokesman. The head teacher of The Haven Primary said it was a "fantastic" opportunity. "This strengthens links with PCSO Martin Hylands, who is a well-known and loved character at the school," said Wendy Bray. Eastbourne's district commander, Ch Insp Dick Coates, said police could play a valuable role in educating children to improve standards and behaviour.
