An oil and gas exploration firm has gone into administration with the loss of 70 jobs, 27 from its Suffolk base. UTEC Survey Limited employs 110 staff, 60 of which work on vessels operated by the company, with the remaining 50 at the site in Heath Road, Lowestoft. A boat owned by the company with survey crew on board is continuing operations in the Mediterranean Sea while talks take place with the contracted client. A decision on the need for any further redundancies will be made later. The remaining 23 staff at Lowestoft are continuing to provide support functions for the vessel. Andrew Turner, from chartered accountancy firm Lovewell Blake, is assisting the administrators, Ritson Smith. He said: "It has been a difficult week for the employees of the company. The loss of jobs is regrettable, but unfortunately unavoidable."
