Sir Bobby to get freedom of town

Former England soccer manager Sir Bobby Robson is to be honoured for bringing the FA Cup to Suffolk in 1978.

Ipswich Borough Council is to give Sir Bobby the freedom of Ipswich.

A council spokesman said they were paying tribute to 75-year-old Sir Bobby's success when he managed Ipswich Town FC in the 1970s and early 1980s.

"Sir Bobby will be given the freedom of the town on 5 May during celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of Ipswich Town winning the FA Cup."

Sir Bobby made his name at Ipswich before going on to manage England and Newcastle United.
