Food choice increases at hospital
Patients and staff at Ipswich Hospital enjoying their new food
Ipswich Hospital widened the choice of menus
A range of new meals have been tried out at Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust to promote food choice.

The new menus were available to promote the Hospital Caterers Association National Day of Choice on Wednesday.

The Ipswich Hospital has widened the choice of menus available for patients - to see what people like, what works and what does not.

Some older patients at the hospital saw their day begin with a traditional English cooked breakfast.

Patient partnerships

More choice was on the menu for all patients throughout the hospital with two extra main meal choices: tuna, tomato and courgette pasta, and chicken and leek pie.

There were more puddings too: lemon bread and butter, or fresh fruit, stewed rhubarb and ice cream.

The hospital said that the Day of Choice at the hospital had been made possible thanks to the involvement of patient partnership groups, particularly the Diet Sub Group and OCS and their suppliers.

Christine Smart, chairman of the 800 bed hospital Trust, said: "Today is all about trying things out and listening to feedback from patients.

"It demonstrates the great team work we have between patients, staff and colleagues working in catering services."
