Mrs Finch said the firm made a real difference to people |
A mother-of-two who re-mortgaged her home to start her business seven years ago has been named Britain's Entrepreneur of the Year. Karen Finch's Hearing Care Centres across Suffolk provide a one-stop-shop for people with hearing difficulties.
The centres test hearing and dispense equipment, and also offer practical advice to clients.
Mrs Finch is president of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and said the award took her breath away.
"There is nothing more satisfying than hearing words of praise from those who are in the know and who understand the trials and tribulations, the fear, the loneliness and self-doubt suffered by anyone who wants to start up in business," she explained.
"I know we are making a real difference to the lives of people with hearing loss because our patients tell us so."
The 41-year-old from Ipswich said although she had more goals to achieve the award let her know she had "finally arrived".
The award ceremony was held at Royal Courts of Justice in London on Thursday evening.
