Mother featured in cancer adverts
Julia Mothersole
Julia Mothersole has survived both ovarian and breast cancer
A Suffolk mother who has recovered from both ovarian and breast cancer is featuring in a series of adverts.

Julia Mothersole, 51, from Elmswell, is using her experiences to support the charity Cancer Research UK.

Ms Mothersole said she wanted people to realise that being diagnosed with cancer does not have to be fatal.

"There's still too many people who think if you've got cancer you're going to die. There's not emphasis on the people who are making it," she said.

"Obviously people do die but we've got to try and focus on the positive aspects and the research Cancer UK are doing," she added.

Ms Mothersole, who lives with her husband and 21-year-old son, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer four years ago.

"I had ovarian cancer, which usually kills two-thirds of its victims so I was lucky," she said.

Her story appears on the online Cancer Research UK site and in the London Underground.
