John Peel was one of the UK's best-loved broadcasters |
The family of the late broadcaster John Peel have expressed concern over the decision to publish two biographies of his life. The BBC presenter, who lived near Stowmarket, Suffolk, died suddenly in October from a heart attack.
The late broadcaster's brother Francis Ravenscroft said he thought it was "distasteful" to rush out two books on John Peel in time for Christmas.
One publisher, Orion Books, said its book was an "affectionate tribute".
The second publisher, Michael O'Mara Books, said its decision to publish a biography was simply a response to huge public demand.
John Peel had begun writing his autobiography which will now be finished by his wife, Sheila, and their four children.
It is due to be published next September.
The late radio legend wrote more than 50,000 words before suffering a heart attack in Peru in October.
