The constant noise from the Punch and Judy show is 'no joke' |
A punch and judy show at a Suffolk seaside town has been accused of being too noisy by residents living nearby. Some 20 people living near the seafront in Southwold say the constant noise from the show is beyond a joke.
They have told local councillors they are tired of hearing the phrase "that's the way to do it" repeated over and over again.
Cathryn Assmann, who organised a letter of complaint to Waveney District Council said she and her neighbours were "fed up" with the continuous noise.
She said it went on during school holidays and at weekends.
Amplified
The problem was not the show itself, but the fact the sound was being amplified.
Ms Assmann said: "The problem is that the noise is being carried through the neighbourhood from a speaker and we're fed up with it.
"We've written to the council explaining the problem and we're hoping they will deal with it.
"It just affects a small group of residents who live nearby."
Neither the council nor Punch and Judy man John Pulson were available for comment on Sunday.
