The man fell 30 feet to his death |
An inquest has been opened into the death of a man in a stunt power kite accident. Lee Charity, 28, from Combs Green in Stowmarket, died in hospital following the accident on the Chilton playing fields in Stowmarket on Sunday.
It is thought that Mr Charity, who was harnessed into the steerable kite, took off in winds gusting at up to 40mph.
On Wednesday the inquest into his death was opened, but the hearing has been adjourned while the investigation continues.
Suffolk Police believe the wind caught the kite and lifted the man into the air before he suddenly plunged back to earth.
Witnesses had seen the man flying the kite, which was about 10 feet across for several hours before the tragedy.
