A plan for a new centre for visitors at a nuclear power station in Suffolk has been scrapped over fears of a terrorist attack. The centre which Sizewell A had shared with Sizewell B closed two years ago and will soon be demolished.
Plans for another visitor centre have now been shelved.
Instead more staff will be employed at Sizewell A to give talks to local schools and businesses.
Mike Wilding, station manager at Sizewell, said: "Access to nuclear facilities needs to be carefully scrutinised and looked at and properly controlled so we maintain a safe and secure site at Sizewell A."
In February this year, energy minister Brian Wilson admitted that some intruders had entered an inner security barrier at Sizewell B during a Greenpeace protest
But he said the incursion did not reach "sensitive areas of the plant" or pose a threat to security.
