New war memorial to be unveiled

A new war memorial is to be unveiled in one of Stoke-on-Trent's towns after years of research.

Local residents, historians and veterans spent 12 years collecting more than 1,000 names of Tunstall people who died in World War I and II.

The new memorial, in the town centre, also features a plaque to remember those who died in later conflicts.

Tunstall councillor Lee Wanger said the amount of work that went into the project was "staggering".

Lord Mayor Jean Bowers will unveil the memorial in the town centre on Saturday afternoon.
