Alternative school plans proposed
The 22 secondary school head teachers in Stoke-on-Trent and the city's three MPs have come up with alternative plans to restructure high school education.

Under council proposals, announced in July, 17 high schools would be replaced with 12 centres of excellence.

Five special schools would also be replaced by four new ones.

However, Under the head teachers' new proposals, 15 high schools would serve students and the special schools would remain unchanged and be reviewed later.
