A 49-year-old man accused of murder has also been charged with violent disorder and assault.

Keith Brown, 52, from Stoke-on-Trent, died from a single stab wound after police attended a disturbance in July.

Habib Khan, from Uttoxter Road in the city, will appear before magistrates on 27 September along with two men, aged 24 and 26, who face the same charges.

The way Staffordshire Police dealt with the events leading up to the stabbing is being investigated.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has confirmed it is looking at the contact the force had with Mr Brown in the run-up to his death.

Mr Khan is due at Stafford Crown Court to face a charge of murder on 24 September.

A post-mortem examination showed Mr Brown suffered a single stab wound to the back in the incident in the Normacot area of Stoke-on-Trent.
