The Bishop of Lichfield is to receive an honorary doctorate next month from Keele University, where he graduated. The Rt Rev Jonathan Gledhill's award is for his "outstanding contribution to the Church and to Staffordshire".
Among others awarded honorary degrees are BBC's World at One presenter Martha Kearney and geologist Prof Geoffrey Boulton who was born in Stoke-on-Trent.
And there is a degree for John Woodcock, former boss of Pochin's, who have carried out development at Keele.
Bishop Gledhill is married to Jane, also a Keele graduate, who is a university lecturer. They have a daughter and a son.
He was appointed 98th Bishop of Lichfield in July, 2003.
His diocese covers Staffordshire and areas of Shropshire and the Black Country.
