Hundreds of knives and other weapons have been binned in Staffordshire during the second week of the national knife amnesty. The latest items disposed of in the red bins included hunting knives, martial arts knives and swords.
The number handed in during the second week of the five-week campaign is 432, making 815 so far.
Sgt Jim Mills of Staffordshire Police said: "Every knife handed in is one less that can be used to commit crime."
Sgt Mills, of the force's crime reduction unit, added: "There are still three weeks left of the amnesty so I would urge people to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of knives in a safe way."
Test purchase operations have also taken place to see if knives and other weapons are being sold to under 16s.
Officers from Staffordshire Trading Standards targeted 10 retailers, who were visited by underaged youngsters trying to buy knives but all were asked for photographic identification.
Police are urging those who have not handed in knives or bladed weapons, to do so during the amnesty, which runs to the end of June.
