Residents are being warned about phone and internet scams after two people alerted police in Worcestershire. A woman from Kidderminster said she received a number of phone calls claiming to be from Marks and Spencer saying she had won a holiday.
The callers asked her to pass on bank details. The victim discovered from the High Street store that it was a scam.
A woman, from Bromsgrove, also told police after receiving an e-mail claiming to be from Barclays Bank.
It asked her to pass on bank details but she became suspicious as she is not a Barclays customer.
A spokesman for West Mercia police said: "Never give out bank details or other personal information, and if suspicious, terminate phone calls, delete e-mails and bin letters immediately."
