The company said it will continue its business review |
Ceramics company Wedgwood has announced that 161 jobs are to go over the next few weeks. Three hundred posts were reviewed in November resulting in 78 people losing their jobs at the Coalport site in Staffordshire in January.
A spokesman said the latest cuts are less than first thought and includes some voluntary redundancies. Talks with staff and unions have taken place.
The losses will reduce the workforce in Stoke-on-Trent to about 2,000 people.
The company will continue its review to ensure production costs are kept in line with market demand and business expectations over the coming year, the spokesman said.
In December, the firm confirmed 10m plans to display a priceless collection of pottery and manuscripts from the 18th century after the project was awarded a 6m lottery windfall.
The development in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, is expected to open in 2007.
