A book of condolence has been opened in the home town of two Staffordshire Regiment soldiers killed with a colleague by a roadside bomb in Iraq. The tribute to Pte Leon Spicer, 26, and Pte Phillip Hewett, 21, opened in Tamworth's tourist office on Wednesday.
The book also remembers the life of 2nd Lt Richard Shearer, 26, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, who died with the pair in the blast in Al Amarah on 16 July.
The men's bodies are expected to be flown to RAF Brize Norton on Friday.
Tamworth mayor John Wells sent his condolences to the men's families and wished a speedy recovery to other members of the Staffords who were injured in the attack.
He added: "I hope the book of condolence goes some way to express the immense sense of pride I, my fellow councillors and the people of Tamworth have for the Staffordshire Regiment and the very difficult job they are doing in helping to secure peace and security to the people of Iraq."
The soldiers' deaths took the number of British service personnel who have died in Iraq since the start of hostilities in March 2003 to 92.
