Bogus gardeners targeting elderly
Staffordshire Police are warning people to be on their guard after a spate of incidents of bogus gardeners taking money for work they do not do.

Two men are targeting elderly residents in the Crossheath area of Newcastle-under-Lyme, police said.

The men ask for money to clear gardens, mow lawns or cut hedges and do not return to do the work.

Police are urging residents to check the credentials of anyone who comes to their door.

If residents want work carried out on their property, they are being urged to contact reputable businesses and arrange a time and date for their visit.
