Petition leads to park drink ban
Alcohol is to be banned in a park in Newcastle-under-Lyme after nearly 200 residents signed a petition calling for action over youngsters gathering there.

People living near The Marsh in Wolstanton claim gangs of up to 40 often assemble in the park.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has now agreed to ban alcohol.

But the bar manager of the Oxford Arms in Wolstanton, Steve Bratt, said he is not sure if the measure will solve the problem of anti-social behaviour.

He added: "You get groups of 20 upwards, youngsters from the age of eight to 16, but they don't seem to be doing anything.

"I'd appreciate it if they'd move on somewhere else, but where to? They've got nowhere to go and nothing to do."
