The soldiers, from the 1st Battalion, are going on a peacekeeping mission to help maintain law and order in the area around Basra.

It is expected that they will stay there for about six months which means they will miss the 300th anniversary of the Staffordshire Regiment.

But the troops will be able to join in events taking place to commemorate the milestone in July via a video link.
