More than 140 people have been charged with drink driving offences following a two-month police operation. Staffordshire Police officers have breath-tested 1,630 motorists during the summer crackdown on drink drivers.
A police spokesman said the operation ran from 18 July to 29 August and 142 people were now facing a minimum 12-month ban by the courts.
The spokesman added the end of the campaign did not mean an end to drink drivers being targeted.
"Last year nearly 600 drivers who were injured in traffic collisions in Staffordshire either failed or refused to provide a breath test," said traffic management officer Les Dyble.
"Road safety is an increasing priority for Staffordshire Police, and tackling drink driving is a very important part of that.
"Even small amounts of alcohol impair the ability to drive safely. After a drink, response times reduce, judgement is affected and risk taking can be greater."
