City to get NHS health trainers
Parts of Stoke-on-Trent will be among the first areas in England to get new health trainers to give people advice on improving lifestyles.

The jobs will be in the areas run by North Stoke and South Stoke primary care trusts as they include some of the most disadvantaged parts of England.

Everyone will be entitled to an NHS trainer under the latest government plans aimed at improving public health.

Cutting obesity was a top priority in the White Paper published this week.

The areas of Stoke were chosen because they have a history of deprivation, deaths from cancer and heart disease and low life expectancy.

People in the city will also be given advice on how to stop smoking by the health trainers.
