Motorists in Staffordshire who use hand-held mobile phones while they are driving now face an automatic fine. The crackdown by Staffordshire Police will see officers implementing a law which came into force last December.
Anyone caught using their phone whilst driving will be given a 30 fixed penalty, a spokesman said.
He added: "Not only is it illegal, but offenders who do this are risking their own lives and those of other road users by their behaviour."
