Champ aims from darts to charts
Phil Taylor
Phil Taylor is the reigning PDC world champion
The world darts champion is hoping to join the long list of sportsmen who have made their mark on the pop charts.

Phil "The Power" Taylor has recorded a rap about the challenges of staying at the top of his game.

The 43-year-old from Staffordshire made Better than the Best with the help of darts fan and lyricist Tony Shailer.

But the nation may have to wait some time to hear the song - Taylor is still looking for a distributor for the "tongue in cheek" recording.

'Not singing'

"I'm really impressed with the song and have enjoyed working on it," the 11 times world champion said.

"I'm really pleased for all the guys involved."

Co-writer Mike Ryde said: "As the title suggests, this is about Phil being better than the best and staying at the top.

"It is all fairly tongue in cheek. I wouldn't describe Phil's part as singing - it's more of a rap."

Sporting stars who have managed to get their songs into the charts include footballer Paul Gascoigne and snooker player Peter Ebdon.
