Royal Doulton uses Potteries base
Royal Doulton is producing some of its Royal Albert ware in Stoke-on-Trent - 17 months after it transferred work to Indonesia.

The company says it is a commercial decision to meet demand and will be reviewed on a weekly basis.

It is six weeks since the company announced plans to close Nile Street, the last factory in Stoke-on-Trent.

The firm closed its Baddeley Green plant in 2002 and sent production of Royal Albert lines to Indonesia.

Royal Doulton chief executive Wayne Nutbeen told BBC Radio Stoke that the work had been brought here because demand for Royal Albert had surpassed expectations.

He said the alternative was to send it to Korea or Bangladesh.

The Royal Albert range includes the famous "Old Country Roses" tableware.
