John Caudwell starts the challenge next month |
A Staffordshire mobile phone tycoon has made an appeal to find a masseur and a driver who will work for him for free. John Caudwell, owner of the Phones4U chain, needs support staff to help him complete a 2,300 mile cycle ride for charity from Athens to Stoke-on-Trent.
The entrepreneur whose headquarters are in Stoke says he has been let down by two people who were due to help.
Mr Caudwell, seventh in The Sunday Times "rich list," says applicants will need energy and resourcefulness.
His preparations for the 18-day ride have already been hampered by the theft of his bike, worth 5,000, in London when he attended an Olympic torch-bearers' reception at the City Hall earlier this year.
18-day challenge
The billionaire is due to receive his replacement bike in the next few days before he starts the challenge on 18 October.
Mr Caudwell, 52, is appealing for a replacement driver and masseur to join him on the venture in aid of the Caudwell Charity, a trust which raises money for children's charities in the UK.
He said: "The job may suit somebody involved in sport who's out of season, possibly a student on a gap year.
"But they'll need energy, and they'll need to be resourceful and upbeat."
