Concern over parking restrictions
Stoke-on-Trent City Council will continue to fine supporters who park illegally on match days despite an appeal by Stoke City football club.

Fans claim that 70 vehicles were issued with 50 fines for parking illegally around the Britannia Stadium after Saturday's game with Nottingham Forest.

The club had requested that parking restrictions on match days be relaxed.

But the council says it enforces the charges because of complaints from local people and businesses nearby.

Stoke City's sales and marketing manager, Tim Gallimore, says spaces are at a premium and believes the council should be more understanding.

"Maybe the supporters can ask the council directly whether they're prepared to remove some of these restrictions as local council tax payers.

"I suggest that might be a course of action for them to look at.

I would like to think the council may relax those restrictions particularly on a busy match day."
