Campaign to save post office
People using a post office in Stafford are being urged to lodge objections to plans to close it down.

The consumer watchdog Postwatch told people in Doxey at a meeting on Friday that "people power" was the key to keeping the branch open.

Many people have already signed a petition in support, but the Doxey Community Association is now calling on people to write individual letters to managers.

Stephen Moore, from the association, told BBC Radio Stoke they had to try everything they could.

"There have been cases where the Post Office has changed its mind so it's a bit of a shot in the dark but it's the only way we can do it.

"If we don't write any letters then we can be quite certain that the post office will close."

The deadline to lodge an objection is Christmas Eve.

The Post Office say they plan to shut the post brance in Doxey because there are too many branches competing for too little business.
